Have you ever heard of Wonder Questions? It’s not a very commonly known spiritual-emotional growth practice. I think one place I first heard of it was a small article by Thunder Molloy way back in the Nov/Dec 2014 edition of Spirituality and Health Magazine.
Thunder asked such questions as:
I wonder how it can get even better than this?
I wonder how I might live in god and act on my preferences?
I wonder how I can be fully present and angry at the same time?
I wonder how I can consciously express my sexual energy with everyone I meet?
I wonder how a new source of income will show up in my life?
I wonder how a new healed body will show up?
I love this idea, because wondering WHY things happen or WHEN it will happen can be such a dead end. Even HOW, though used in these questions, is a whole different ballgame with the wonder added!
I don’t remember the article at this point, but I did keep those first few lines in a document that I just found~and thought how fun it would be to share this (& try it again myself, as I had forgotten!). My take on this is that I think the word “wonder” elicits a heart connection, bringing us out of the head into possibility, intuition, play, effervescence. I feel a buoyancy when I add the word “wonder” to my thoughts. Do you? What else do you feel?
I’d love to hear also some of your own wonder questions below. Here are a few of my own off the top of my head as I write this. I suggest you do the same–don’t give it too much “thought” and see what pops up! An emotional or mental door may unlatch, or even a window crack open a bit to fresh air and new, useful inspiration, when you try this.
Note that they don’t need to be big philosophical questions. Even wondering how to get more organized or find the right new vehicle is fair game if that has had you bound up or less than at ease. Life cares about you on ALL levels!
Here are a few more (mine), to get you started:
I wonder how I can more joyfully express my true Being on this planet at this time? I wonder how I can live feeling safe and protected at all times? I wonder how to connect with loved ones at a deeper level? I wonder how my living space can be even more organized and restful? I wonder how to live with more wonder?
